Platteville Man Arrested For 9th OWI
A traffic complaint has resulted in a Platteville Man being arrested for his 9th Offense Drunk Driving. Authorities were notified about 10-30 pm Saturday Night of a vehicle being driven in a reckless manner and stopping in the lane of traffic. 71 year old Eldon Holt was located on Southwest Road and a traffic stop was made on Classic Lane. Holt admitted to drinking prior to the traffic stop. The Grant County Sheriff’s Deputy learned Holt had eight prior convictions for drunk driving and had a 0.2 restriction on his license, which had been revoked. He also failed to install an Ignition interlock device. The Platteville Police Department assisted at the scene.
Motorcycle And Truck Collide Causing Injury
On 07/13/2024, a motorcycle collided with a truck on the Hwy 151 exit 8 overpass in the Village of Dickeyville, as reported to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. Gary Helbing, 62, was riding his orange 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Highway 61 when Earl Ludwig, 72, in a red 2013 Ford F150, pulled out into Helbing’s path from the off ramp, resulting in a collision. Despite Helbing’s efforts to avoid the crash, he hit the driver’s side of Ludwig’s truck and suffered severe injuries, needing assistance from witnesses at the scene before being taken to the hospital.

JO DAVIESS COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) - A driver faces several traffic violations after a single-car crash in Galena sends multiple people to area hospitals. Around 3:30 p.m. on July 12, the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said Dylan Dupree, 28, was driving a car along North Blackjack Road with four other adults in the car.
Dubuque Man May Have Blacked Out Prior To Crash
Police say a Dubuque motorist potentially suffered a seizure Saturday before crashing into a utility pole. 76 year old Terry Merz of Dubuque suffered minor injuries in the incident, which occurred at about 6:20 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Jackson Street and East 22nd Street. Merz was northbound on Jackson Street when he veered to the right through the intersection and hit an Alliant Energy pole. A report says he remained at the scene for a couple minutes before backing up and leaving. Merz later told police he “blacked out” and did not realize he had hit anything. He was cited with failure to maintain control and leaving the scene of an accident and property damage.
Man Sentenced To Life in Prison For Killing Dubuque Woman
A man was sentenced to life in prison without parole Monday for killing a Dubuque woman in 2021. 25 year old Romell Enoch received the mandatory sentence during a hearing in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after previously being found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of 20 year old Kylie Duster of Dubuque. A jury reached its guilty verdict on May 6 after four hours of deliberation following three days of testimony. Police found Duster dead in her Dubuque home on July 28, 2021, after she had not been seen for multiple days. She was found in her bedroom closet with a piece of white fabric in her mouth and injuries to her face and neck.

A former Linn-Mar track coach will spend the next 14 years in prison for sexually abusing students. Kameron Beets was sentenced yesterday after entering an Alford plea in May to charges including third degree sexual abuse and exploitation by a school employee. An Alford plea is when someone pleads guilty, without admitting guilt, but acknowledges there’s enough evidence to convict them. Prosecutors say in September 2021, Beets told two students to meet him for a physical examination before performing inappropriate acts.
