DICKINSON N.D.–Badlands Big Sticks head coach Jordan Price has stepped down from his role as the head coach. Price is moving to a full time role at Metropolitan State University of Denver, and that university shares a number of ties with the Big Sticks team. Three players on the Big Sticks roster this year all shared time with their former Big Sticks head coach at Metro State. Tyler Tobey, Cameron Yuran, and Kobe Krenz all had formed a relationship with Price and each other before they even stepped on the field together in Dickinson.

“It’s great. You know, it’s nice having a connection out here, already knowing people out here,” Yuran said. “So, you know, it makes it a little more comfortable, especially knowing another player, you know, it just makes it that much more fun, you know, having experiences with guys you go to school with in the summer because you know, it’s a different vibe in the summer for sure.”

“Even last year when we’d win in Metro or I’d hit a double or something, I’d come up to him and say, ‘Go Big Sticks’ because I was excited to come play for him,” Tobey said. “So, really good dude, really good relationship with him and excited to see him a lot next year.”

For Tobey, this is his first year with the Big Sticks… and his relationship with Price is a large part of the reason that he is a part of the Big Sticks team, according to Price, who knew he would be a good fit for the Big Sticks when he watched him play at Metro State.

“Yeah. So it works out great for us. You know, I’m a volunteer at Metro State, so I’m not a full time employee there. So I’m allowed to bring a couple of my guys and Yuran played for us last summer at the end of the half before I joined Metro State,” Price said. “So he wanted to come back, and then, you know, Tobey is a new player for us and at Metro State and we needed an Infielder and I watched him play through the fall, asked if he’d be interested, and he said, Yeah, absolutely. So both of those guys are great fits for us here in Dickinson and they’re having a great time.”
