Family Unharmed after Being Fired Upon in Suspected Gang-Related Shooting in Livermore, Four Arrested
Last Monday, a family leaving a gym found themselves pursued and fired upon by assailants in a black truck. The incident unfolded near the intersection of Park and North I Streets shortly after the victims departed the fitness center on Railroad Avenue. The Livermore Police Department noted that while shots were discharged at the victims' car, no physical injuries beset the family—a mother, her son, and daughter.
Crews battling 100-acre grass fire in Altamont Pass near Livermore; parts of I-580 closed
A fast-moving grass fire has shut down parts of I-580 in the Altamont Pass in near Livermore Thursday night, according to CAL FIRE.As of 11 p.m., 100 acres have burned so far near Flynn Road with 0% containment.The initial report from the CHP is a car caught fire in the westbound direction and the flames then spread to the grass. Suspect sought in Antioch JCPenney $500K smash-and-grab caught on camera
ANTIOCH – Police in Antioch are searching for man suspected of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewelry during a department store smash-and-grab that was caught on camera last month.In a post on the department's Facebook page, police showed video of the theft, which took place at the JCPenney store on Slatten Ranch Road on the night of June 15. According to officers, the suspect was spotted on video walking into JCPenney around 8:25 p.m. and hid in the store until after closing. Surveillance video shows the man using a hammer to smash jewelry cases and stealing nearly $500,000 in items.Police received an alarm call around 10 p.m. that night.A surveillance photo provided by police showed the man wearing a New York Yankees baseball cap, sunglasses, a gray shirt, black pants and black shoes.Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Cole Shaffer of the Antioch Police Department over email or by calling 925-481-8604.

2 arrested after Livermore police dog finds fentanyl, meth in broken down vehicle
Livermore police on Tuesday arrested two people from Washington after an officer stopped to help when their vehicle broke down and a police dog alerted them to drugs in the vehicle. At 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, an officer, along with K9 Drake, was patrolling the area of Airway Boulevard and North Canyons Parkway when they came across a vehicle with Washington plates on the side of the road.The driver had the hood open and was checking the vehicle, prompting the officer to ask if they needed help. They said they were traveling to San Jose from Washington. The occupants then walked away and into a store.K9 Drake alerted his handler of narcotics in the vehicle. Police found 4 ounces of fentanyl, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Police arrested the two people, ages 38 and 31. Police said the pair admitted to purchasing the fentanyl Tuesday morning in the Central Valley with the intent to sell in Washington. Police arrested them on suspicion of transporting/selling a narcotic or controlled substance, possessing/purchasing for sale a narcotic or controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance.
