This Northern California club will be fielding two full teams in the Girls U18 Open division at the NAI 7s. This is a big event for Pleasanton, and it’s an interesting follow-on to what they talked about last year.
LeRonne Armstrong and another OPD chief were investigated and faulted for leadership failures
The Oaklandside has learned that the city of Oakland quietly investigated how former Oakland police chief LeRonne Armstrong and his immediate successor Darren Allison handled explosive allegations of perjury and bribery by an OPD homicide detective. The city’s investigation, carried out by the Police Commission’s Community Police Review Agency and an outside law firm, found that Armstrong and Allison failed to ensure OPD’s internal affairs division rigorously and fairly examined the accusations against the detective. Investigators concluded Armstrong and Allison both fell short in their authorities and responsibilities as commanding officers.

Big plans afoot for the Castagnasso Horse Farm
The continued presence of a horse farm just half-a-block from Sonoma Plaza at 196 East Spain Street is a near miracle. A longtime home to Clydesdales owned by the Castagnasso family, the property was sold to new owners in 2021 when the Castagnasso family relocated to the East Coast. The property is zoned Medium Density Residential, but the new owners have no plan for additional housing and plan to continue to operate a horse farm to provide boarding for retired and rescue horses.

It’s too early in training camp to have a ‘bad’ training camp, but things didn’t get off to a great start for 49ers rookie running back Isaac Guerendo. Guerendo on Day 1 of camp had to exit the session after pulling up with what appears to be a hamstring injury. A fast-moving grass fire has shut down parts of I-580 in the Altamont Pass in near Livermore Thursday night, according to CAL FIRE.As of 11 p.m., 100 acres have burned so far near Flynn Road with 0% containment.The initial report from the CHP is a car caught fire in the westbound direction and the flames then spread to the grass.
