Five Pillars Butchery awarded $2.7 million grant
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded a $2.7M grant to Five Pillars Butchery (FPB) in Unity. The grant comes through the Department’s Meat and Poultry Processing Expansion Program (MPPEP) to expand processing capacity and strengthen the food supply chain. The Unity business will use the grant to help construct a new meat and poultry processing facility in the Waldo County community.
Bomb threat at Ralph's Cafe in Brooks deemed a hoax
BROOKS -- Authorities responded to a bomb threat at a cafe in Brooks Tuesday morning. According to spokesperson Shannon Moss, Maine State Police received a report about a bomb threat directed at Ralph's Cafe at 12 Purple Heart Highway just after 11 a.m. Moss says the threat was made through an email.

Augusta police: Suspect in custody after apparent standoff on Route 3
AUGUSTA, Maine — Police said an incident in Augusta that prompted the shutdown of Route 3 near the city line, has ended in an arrest. Augusta police announced on their Facebook page that as of 7:52 p.m. the road had been reopened and a suspect has been taken into custody.
