In late July 2024, Cochrane & Area Humane Society (CAHS) posted a video about their rescue dog , who had been with them for almost two years, looking for a home. This quickly went viral, gaining over 4 million views. A few days later, the community announced rescue dog Paddy’s adoption before her second anniversary.

After Paddy’s adoption, her family opened her personal Instagram page @rescuepaddy2024 and revealed that they would continue documenting the rescue dog’s “life outside shelter,” urging individuals to follow along.

On July 28, Cochrane & Area Humane Society (CAHS) posted Paddy’s information on their Instagram page @cochranehumane. They revealed that their rescue dog had been waiting for a home for almost two years, 716 days to be precise. The team noted that Paddy is an “incredible dog who is so loving” and waiting to get adopted. Meanwhile, the post requested people to help find the rescue dog a loving home before her second anniversary on Aug. 12.

The video post gained significant attention and interaction, with several people wishing for Paddy to find her family. In the first week of August, the post received more than 3 million views. However, the team was still looking for Paddy’s adoption and continued to spread the word. They were looking for their rescue dog’s ideal home to be “without small children or other pets.” Paddy had also stayed in several foster homes.

Eventually, the viral video reached the right audience, and Paddy found her forever home with a loving family two days before her second anniversary.

Welcoming Paddy into her home, her family opened her account on Instagram @rescuepaddy2024 and said, “Paddy has found her forever home! This sweet girl spent 2 years in a shelter. After going viral, people from all over the world reached out to the Cochrane Alberta Humane Society to adopt her. Paddy found her forever family in her hometown and will be able to visit the incredible shelter team who cared for her for 2 years.”

Meanwhile, CAHS continues its mission to help find animals homes. Individuals can donate, adopt, foster, and volunteer.
