Louisiana Man Stores Fentanyl in Shoes, Gets 20 Years in Prison on Drug Charges
GONZALES, La. (KPEL News) - A south Louisiana man is facing a long time in jail after police caught him stories his drugs in an unconventional place. Michael Duplessis, 41, of Gonzales, pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to distribute Schedule I and II drugs on Thursday. He also pleaded guilty to possession or introduction of contraband into a correctional facility. As a result, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
Ascension: Mother of six killed in weekend crash
GONZALES — A mother of six from St. Amant was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Gonzales Saturday, UWK has learned. Gonzales Police tell UWK that Jennifer Davenport Tanner, 38, was traveling south on Airline Hwy. when she ran a red light at N. Burnside Ave., crashing into another vehicle.
Napoleonville man arrested after fleeing from Assumption Parish Sheriff's deputies at speeds over 100 mph
PAINCOURTVILLE— The Assumption Parish Sheriff's arrested a man suspected of fleeing from deputies at speeds over 115 miles per hour. 20-year-old Murphy Lee Wesley is accused of speeding away from deputies after an attempted traffic stop along LA 308 in Napoleonville. Wesley drove towards the Belle Rose community at speeds over 100 mph.
Prairieville father of two killed in Livingston double fatal crash
PRAIRIEVILLE — A 28-year-old father of two boys died after the driver of an oncoming car crossed the center line, according to Louisiana State Police troopers. Kenneth M. Broussard II, 28, of Prairieville, died just after 12 a.m. on Saturday, June 29 on Hwy. 16 near Bailey Lane in Livingston Parish. The driver of an oncoming car crashed head-on into Broussard’s car. Broussard was buckled properly but did not survive his injuries. The driver of that oncoming car has multiple broken bones and in a hospital. His passenger in the car, Abigail Wheat, 22, of Watson, also died in the crash.

Coming on the heels of an historic electoral victory (Webre bested his opponent by 74% and it shouldn’t have been that close) in October, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is the envy of every other parish law enforcement agency. Monday’s inaugural marks the beginning of Sheriff Webre’s second full term in office.
