Jefferson County Coroner looking for family of man who died in late June
The Jefferson County Coroner is asking for help finding family members for a man who recently died in Jefferson County. 56-year-old James Steven Arrington was found in medical distress outside the Fire House Shelter in Birmingham on June 17, 2024. He was taken to UAB Hospital where he died on June 26, 2024. There was no evidence of trauma or foul play found.
Jefferson County drivers react to work underway to open first phase of Northern Beltline
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — Work is underway to open the first section of the Birmingham Northern Beltline. The initial phase of construction will be a four-lane highway which will connect SR-79 and SR-75. This connection spans nearly two miles and is expected to be complete in late 2026.

Alabama governor gives big money to make money in Jefferson County
DORA, Ala. — A grant released by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey could bring hundreds of new jobs to the city of Dora. The governor awarded $500,000 for support of new businesses to be built on Interstate 22. Love's Travel Stop and Country Store will be the first to build in the area. That business alone expects to bring 50 new jobs. The money will be spent on the sewer system including two new pump stations. The area, called the Heritage Landing Development, is a 50-acre multi-use commercial space night next to I-22 and Walker County Highway 81.
