    Brookhaven, Chamblee, and Doraville join forces for hazardous waste drive

    The cities of Brookhaven, Chamblee, and Doraville will host a joint household hazardous materials recycling event on Aug. 17.

    The event will hosted in collaboration with Live Thrive and Keep Chamblee Beautiful at the Plaza Fiesta parking lot, 4166 Buford Highway, from 8 a.m. to noon.

    Live Thrive is responsible for recycling and disposal of all materials collected during the event. Last year’s event diverted a total of 52,090 pounds from waterways and landfills.

    The Household Hazardous Waste Drive is an appointment-only event and registration is only open to Brookhaven, Chamblee, and Doraville residents residing in the following zip codes: 30319, 30324, 30326, 30329, 30340, 30341, 30345, and 30360. This event is for household waste only, and no commercial, industrial, or business waste or excessive quantities will be accepted.

    The following materials will be accepted at the event:

    • Electronics, no large appliances or rear projection tv
    • Paint
    • Chemicals and pesticides
    • Styrofoam
    • Plastic film, must be clean and dry
    • Textiles and clothing, useable and unusable accepted
