HURLOCK — The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a vehicle fire that occurred on Mission Hill Road in Hurlock on May 22.

According to a news release from the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the fire started in the passenger compartment of the black, four-door Pontiac.

The preliminary cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the Office of the State Fire Marshal said the incident “appears to be incendiary in nature.”

It took 14 firefighters 30 minutes to control the blaze, which a passerby discovered. Hurlock Volunteer Fire Company was the primary responding fire department.

The fire resulted in an estimated loss of $4,000. No injuries or deaths were reported as a result of the blaze.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal said that anyone with information regarding the fire should contact its Lower Eastern Regional Office at 410-713-3780.
