Residents Exchanged Gunfire with Suspects During Armed Robbery in Mendocino County, Authorities Say
Mendocino County authorities are investigating an alleged armed robbery in Covelo, during which the victims and subjects allegedly exchanged gunfire. According to a press release by the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on the afternoon of Monday, July 22, to a property on the 24000 block of Shady Lane to investigate a report of a burglary-in-progress.
Mendocino County Veterans Triumph in Battle for Ukiah Office
Mendocino County veterans celebrated the return to their Veterans Service Office on Observatory Avenue in Ukiah during a lunchtime party on Tuesday. Just a few days before Christmas last year, they received word that they would no longer be able to use the roomy house on the west side of town to meet with experts about veterans benefits and services. Instead, they would have to seek services at the Public Health building a few blocks away, on Dora Street. Air Quality Management was slated to move into the Observatory house.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Thursday is likely to be the last triple-digit day in Northern California for a while. However, the risk of wildfires remains high. Meteorologist Tamara Berg said Thursday's forecast high is 101 degrees for downtown Sacramento, a drop from 105 degrees on Wednesday. The average for this time of year is 95 degrees.
