Fund created to support Keller ISD educators, students amid spending cuts
An organization offering funding and support to Keller ISD schools has launched a new program for educators who need resources that might not be offered in the budget. The Keller Education Foundation this week announced the Ongoing Needs and Essentials, or O.N.E, Fund. It provides financial aid to teachers and students in the district by giving donors the option to donate to specific areas.

PTA members say their principal chose to no longer welcome their organization on campus
They're the backbone of so many schools. Parent Teacher Associations, like the one at Porter Elementary in Mesquite, raise money, and volunteer time to better help kids grow. Plano launches short-term rental registration platform
The city of Plano has launched its registration platform for short-term rentals (STR) following the implementation of new ordinances in April. On July 8, Plano announced a link allowing STR owners to officially register their properties with the city. Operators must complete all necessary forms and register by Aug. 1, 2024 at Plano.gov/STR.

Deadly shooting in Old East Dallas leaves man, 23, dead and neighbors fed up with recent violence
Neighbors at Roseland Townhomes in Old East Dallas said they were startled by a barrage of gunfire Wednesday night that killed a man and left bullet holes in cars and homes. Dallas Police said it responded to a shooting call in the 3500 block of Munger Ave. around 10:48 p.m. on Wednesday. When they arrived, they found a man outside the townhomes with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and died, according to a police news release.
