An organization offering funding and support to Keller ISD schools has launched a new program for educators who need resources that might not be offered in the budget. The Keller Education Foundation this week announced the Ongoing Needs and Essentials, or O.N.E, Fund. Mesquite Police arrest Christion James in connection with July 9 murder
On July 9, at approximately 11:38 p.m., the Mesquite Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 3400 block of N. Town East Blvd. Officers arrived on scene and located an 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his chest. An acquaintance of the victim was conducting CPR as officers arrived. Officers assisted in CPR and attempted to provide other life sustaining treatment to the victim until Mesquite Fire arrived on scene. The victim was transported to the hospital where he later died. The deceased was identified as Kavontae Slate of Mesquite, Texas.
