MOT Intermediate advances to Eastern Region winners bracket final

(Dover, DE) The MOT all stars used a 13-hit barrage, including three home runs to defeat New Hampshire 18-5 in 5 innings this morning in the Little League intermediate division. This division features 11–13-year-olds with the tournament being hosted by Delaware’s district 1.

MOT scored four runs in the top of the first inning on RBI hits from Nathan Collins,  Jordyn Brown, and Paul Dougherty. They tacked on five additional runs in the second, including a solo home run by Ayden Markowitz and a 2-run double off the bat of Collins. Mason Guth had two “dingers” in the game (see video), while Paul Dougherty allowed just 1 hit in relief over the final 4 innings. He recorded six strikeouts and did not allow a run.

MOT leadoff hitter Miles Clark was 2-for-2, scoring 3 runs, Collins collected 3 RBI with 2 hits, Kyle Johnson knocked in 2 runs with a couple of singles, and Guth was 2-for-2 with a walk and the two long balls.

MOT is undefeated in the tournament, with a series opening 5-2 win Saturday over Connecticut, 5-4 versus Maryland Sunday, and today’s win against New Hampshire 18-5.  They will meet the Pennsylvania team from Clinton County in the winner’s bracket final at 9:00 Tuesday morning at Dover’s Schutte Park. Pennsylvania is also 3-0 with today’s win 7-4 against New Jersey.

Since Delaware’s district 1 is hosting, the MOT team automatically advanced to the Eastern Regionals. Delaware’s state winner from district 2 (Brandywine) lost to New Hampshire Saturday, picked up a win Sunday against New York 9-1, but fell in the loser’s bracket this afternoon to Maryland 12-4.
