    Above and beyond: Here are Dover's scholar athletes for 2023-24

    The Mid-Hudson Athletic League recently honored its top senior student-athletes for each high school. Dover High School selected Brianna Gonzalez and Justin Cardwell.

    Brianna Gonzalez

    GPA: 105.1

    Class Rank: 5

    Varsity Sports: Volleyball; Competitive Cheer; Softball

    Academic Honors/Extracurricular Activities: National Junior Honor Society; National Senior Honor Society; Student Council; Connection Crew; High School Band; Jazz Band; Multicultural High School Scholars Award; National Hispanic Recognition Program; Seal of Bi-literacy Candidate

    Athletic Honors: Team Captain for volleyball; recognized in the Poughkeepsie Journal as one of the best High School Athletes in Dutchess County

    Community Service: Altar Server; work with elementary school teacher after school helping students in need

    Future Plans: Florida Tech, to major in Ocean Engineering and play volleyball

    Varsity Sports: Cross Country; Soccer; Basketball; Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field

    Academic Honors/Extracurricular Activities: Valedictorian; National Honor Society; Honors Program

    Athletic Honors: Qualified for State competitions in Cross Country 2021 and 2022; Senior All-Star and All-Class B for Soccer; started four years, Senior All-Star, and two-year team captain for Basketball, Outdoor track and field Section IX Class C 400-meter champion in 2022; Section IX Class C runner-up at 800- and 1,600 meters in 2021

    Community Service: Worked at the Dover Day Camp; National Honor Society Service Project

    Future Plans: Rochester Institute of Technology, to major in Nursing
