FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a 4-year-old girl was killed and a driver and a young boy were injured in a Tuscarawas County crash Wednesday evening.

The one-vehicle crash happened on Interstate 77, near milepost 88 in Franklin Township, around 5:47 p.m.

According to state troopers, a maroon 2007 Honda Civic was heading north on I-77 when the driver lost control and went off the side of the road. Investigators say the car hit a raised grass median and turned over.

There were two children passengers in the vehicle at the time.

A 4-year-old girl was taken to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, where she died from serious injuries.

The driver, a 38-year-old Dover man, and a 7-year-old boy were taken to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital with minor injuries.

State troopers do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation at this time.
