Plans for a proposed controversial warehouse complex in Dover Township will not come before the board of supervisors for review in July, according to the municipality.

"We were recently informed that the Hines/Bull Canal Dover Owner LLC Preliminary Land Development Plan for the York Industrial Development Warehouses will not be ready for review by the Board of Supervisors Meeting on July 8th, 2024," according to a notification on the township's website. "We are therefore cancelling that first meeting of July, as is our practice over the summer months."

Township Manager Laurel Oswalt said it's not unusual for proposed plans of this size not to be ready to go before the board of supervisors. The developer is working on addressing pages of comments from staff and consultants about the project, such as utilities.

The developer has asked for an extension until Oct. 28, and the supervisors are expected to vote on whether to grant it at the July 22 meeting, Oswalt said.

The earliest the plans will likely be on the agenda is in September.

The township plans to inform the public about when the plans will be on the agenda.

About the proposed three warehouses in Dover Township

The 1.9-million-square foot warehouse development is proposed to be built on land near Canal and Bull roads in the township.

The township's planning commission voted unanimously in April to recommend the preliminary proposal to the board of supervisors. It calls for three warehouses.

Residents have raised concerns about the plans, including increased traffic at the four-way stop at Bull and Canal roads.
