Football starts season in Ohio against Benedict
Ettrick, Va (Aug. 31, 2024)- The Virginia State University Football team will take on Benedict College in the Black College Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. Last season the Trojans finished the season 8-2 and were only one game from the CIAA Championship game. Benedict went 11-1 and won the SIAC Championship but lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Tuscarawas County, OH — A felonious assault took place in a parking lot of off East High Avenue in New Philadelphia on Friday afternoon.
