Be it a 200-yard rushing game in the fall or a dominating performance in the faceoff circle in the spring, one thing about La Salle High senior Stevie Davis remains the same.

"He's just a humble kid that really wants to see his teammates do well and will do anything to help a team win," La Salle High boys' lacrosse head coach Rob Forster said.

"You can't put a price tag on what he does. He changes the flow of a game in your favor and to have someone like that for the last four years has meant so much to our program."

It's also earned Davis, a Doylestown resident, Courier Times/Intelligencer boys' lacrosse Player of the Year honors.

Davis' domination in the faceoff circle, which helped La Salle High make it all the way to the PIAA Class 6A title game before falling to Radnor, won't end in high school since he's headed to the University of Pennsylvania to play lacrosse.

"Stevie is very focused on academics and Penn is a great fit for him," Forster said.

"He will get a great education also get to play lacrosse for one of the top teams in the country."

Davis was so good at his "other" sport, football (he was a second-team Courier Times/Intelligencer running back last season), that he considered trying to play both in college.

"I thought about it, and I know I'll miss football," Davis said. "But trying to do both at that level would be really tough."

It was that kind of versatility that enabled Davis to expand his faceoff roll and help the Explorers elsewhere.

"Most people think of faceoff guys as the player that takes the faceoff and then comes off the field," Forster said.

"But, when we had some injuries during the season, Stevie came in at midfield and scored goals. He's just that dominant of a player.

"It's going to be tough to see him go because he's been a four-year starter and kind of our rock. And he's even a better kid that you just love having be a part of your program and what you're trying to do."
