NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA—A major road east of Doylestown is closed around the clock for the next two weeks, creating traffic headaches for motorists trying to go toward the Newtown area.

Route 332/Almshouse Road will be closed between Jacksonville Road and Second Street Pike from Monday July 8 through Saturday July 20. The road is being closed to allow crews to replace a stormwater pipe.

While the bulk of the work is scheduled to occur between Jacksonville Road and Hatboro Road, the larger stretch is being closed to everything but local traffic. Motorists will be advised to use Jacksonville Road, Bristol Road and Route 232/Second Street Pike during the closure.

Local officials have warned that because the detour relies on local roads, traffic delays can be expected. They noted that because Almshouse Road will be open to local traffic from Second Street Pike to Hatboro Road, motorists from that part of town will have access to Tanner Brothers Dairy.

Solly Brothers Farm will also be accessible from Almshouse Road and Jacksonville Road. Solly’s, however, will not have access on Almshouse Road from Hatboro Road.
