DOYLESTOWN, PA—A local group dedicated to helping cancer patients in Bucks County is looking for sponsors and partners as it gears up for its busy fall fundraising season.
Main St., formerly known as Pine2Pink, has helped more than 2,000 cancer patients in Bucks County since 2018. The group uses the money it raises to support food assistance, integrative services, counseling and therapy and out-of-pocket expenses, among other things, for cancer patients and their caregivers.
Main St. ramps up its fundraising every October, when it holds more than 20 events in towns including Doylestown, Carversville, New Hope, Perkasie and shopping areas like Peddler’s Village and The Shops at Valley Square. The group puts its trademark pink light bulbs in thousands of streetlights and in stores, museums, municipal buildings and homes.
Nearly 100 stores and restaurants will participate in the fundraising events by donating a portion of the proceeds of sales of special merchandise to Main St. And the organization will hold a digital scavenger hunt to hide “virtual hugs” across Bucks County that can be redeemed for prizes.
For this year’s events, Main St. will kick off its fundraising with a luminary stroll and award presentation at the Mercer Museum on Sept 26. A block party, fashion show and crowning of Mr. Bucks County will follow in Newtown on Oct. 17.
Main St. uses money raised during these events to pay for services for local breast cancer patients and their families. Last year, the group raised $138,000 for cancer patients and their caregivers. Since its creation, Main St. has raised and donated more than $550,000 to fund its efforts.
“Over the last six years, I have had the good fortune to cultivate relationships with hundreds of local businesses across Bucks County,” said Keith Fenimore, Founder and Executive Director of Main St. “I have witnessed their passion and creativity as they collaborate with our nonprofit in a mutually beneficial way that supports and impacts their business, as well as their social responsibility agenda, while at the same time generating awareness and funds for Main St. This circle of life is what drives our nonprofit, and so much good has come from it.”
