A man who was staying at Tewksbury Hospital under court order was arrested after police said he escaped from the hospital, Tewksbury police said in a statement Friday. Police learned that the man had walked away from the hospital, located at 365 East St. in Tewksbury, at around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 27.

Chief John Fisher and the Bedford Police Department wish to share several important safety tips and reminders as residents prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday. According to the state Department of Fire Services and State Police, Massachusetts fire departments reported nearly 1,000 fires related to illegal fireworks between 2013 and 2022. In 2022 alone, fire departments reported 106 fires and explosions attributed to fireworks, an increase of nearly a third over the prior year. More than half of those incidents took place during the week of July 4, 2022.

Excerpts from the Arlington Police Department log:. 6:26 p.m. – Bike Larceny. A Marathon Street resident called APD to report the apparent theft of her daughter's orange Specialized mountain bike from the back yard the previous evening. The teen reportedly had left her $750 bike unlocked. Policed asked nearby neighbors whether they had witnessed anything unusual around that back yard; one reported having seen a shirtless young man, maybe 20 years old, sporting a backpack with a Nike logo, allegedly “herding a turkey in the area.” Could it be that the turkey led the young man to the yard where he happened to notice the unlocked bike? An APD investigation is checking the neighborhood for video footage.
Pedestrian-vehicle-bicycle situation in Arlington Center ends with scant injuries, little damage
An incident earlier this week that might have had a worse ending thankfully did not, according to the Arlington Police Department. It occurred about 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Mass. Ave. and Water Street, Arlington Center, ending with little injury and damage and no one cited. The initial report was of a bicyclist striking a motor vehicle and was responded to by APD officers, the Arlington Fire Department and Armstrong Ambulance.
