The State Fire Marshal's Office announced Wednesday that six teenagers have been convicted of setting two separate fires at a vacant school in the Delta town of Drew.
A Mississippi Insurance Department news release states the first fire was set on Oct. 14, 2023, at an abandoned school on Green Avenue in Drew. The Drew Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the fire, which caused "minimal damage."
Investigators reported the second fire was set on Oct. 15, 2023, and caused the structure to "burn and collapse."
According to officials, the building was in the process of being added to the Historical Register in Sunflower County.
The names of the minors will not be released because of their ages. Below is a list of each person's charges and punishment.
