OhioHealth announced an expansion of its Dublin Methodist Hospital Tuesday, the site's biggest expansion yet amid a slew of growth of Columbus' major health systems.

Several details still need to be finalized, a spokesperson for OhioHealth said in an email, but construction is expected to start in winter of 2026 with plans to finish by 2030 at the Hospital Drive location, built in 2008.

OhioHealth is already investing over $1 billion across the central Ohio health system, including a new $600 million women's center at Riverside Methodist Hospital and $400 million Grant Medical Center project.

“We are extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity to expand our hospital and provide even more exceptional care within,” said Cherie Smith, president of OhioHealth’s Dublin Methodist and Grady Memorial Hospitals, in a press release. “The team at Dublin Methodist has an amazing reputation and we want to create even more space for them to provide exceptional care for our patients.”

What changes are coming to Dublin Methodist?

The expansion will increase the size of the first and second floors of Dublin Methodist, as well as renovate parts of the existing space – a 200,000-square-foot project.

Those 200,000 square feet will help "increase the hospital’s inpatient and critical care capacity," according to the release, as well as create 200 permanent clinical jobs and hundreds of construction jobs.

The project is expected to cost upwards of $200 million, paid for by philanthropic support, community support and capital investment

Part of the project includes upgrading to a Level III trauma center, and if such a center is approved by the American College of Surgeons, Dublin Methodist will boast the only such trauma center in the northwest region of central Ohio, according to OhioHealth.

The hospital currently has 92 acute care beds, and the expansion will add to those numbers and existing hospital services, though the exact number or types of services weren't yet made available by OhioHealth, who said the "details were being finalized."
