Missouri Man Sentenced to 50 Years in Prison for Kidnapping, Murder of Osage Nation Woman
The last of nine defendants in the kidnapping and murder of an Osage Nation woman learns his fate. 30-year-old Tre Robert Allen Ackerson of Webb City, Missouri, was sentenced to 50 years in federal prison on Friday for his part in the kidnapping and murder of 35-year-old Jolene Walker Campbell in July 2020. The victim’s body was found in a remote field in Mayes County. The investigation showed that Jolene was robbed and kidnapped in Missouri and driven into the State of Oklahoma, where she was murdered by Ackerson.
Galena Man Runs from and Fights Police
A Galena man is arrested after fleeing from and fighting with police. This weekend, the Galena Police Department was notified of a physical altercation around 11th and Keller Street. As officers arrived one of the individuals took off on foot. During their pursuit, the man attempted to enter three residences and then ended up taking a bicycle from a woman as she rode past him. He eventually ditched the bike and ran into a wooded area, crossing a fence line into a thick brush. After officers caught up to the man, he continued to resist. As officers placed hand restraints on him, he spit, attempted to smear blood and other body fluids on the arresting officers and made threats to all responding personnel.
Galena Police Department announces new police chief
GALENA, Kan. — Galena has found a new police chief, and he’s no stranger to the department. Noble Dobkins will be the new police chief for the Galena Police Department. Over the last 10-plus years he has been working for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, previously working in a part-time role for the Columbus and Galena Police Departments.
Missouri residents arrested after pair of Tuesday chases beginning in Emporia
Formal charges are pending against the driver and passenger after two alleged chases starting in Emporia on Tuesday. Lyon County Sgt. Zach Shafer says 37-year-old Frederick Beecher Hogue was the driver. He was arrested on suspicion of felony flee and elude, felony possession of stolen property, felony interference with law enforcement, “numerous” traffic infractions and an out-of-state warrant originating in Jasper County, Missouri.
Carl Junction PD begins to fill out force with new recruits
CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Keeping the peace in Carl Junction is getting a little easier thanks to some recent additions to the police force. Three new officers have been hired, helping to fill vacancies that had plagued the PD for several months. They’re authorized to have 12 on the force but had been stalled with just seven for quite a while.
