DUMFRIES, Va. ( DC News Now ) — The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) said officers found the car that was used in a felony hit-and-run that left a man dead .

The hit-and-run happened on July 20 just before 7 p.m. at the parking lot of the Oasis at Montclair Apartment complex, located in the 16400 block of Stedham Circle in Dumfries. The suspect went up to Jose Galvin, 37, while he was outside of his car.

During that encounter, the suspect got into Galvin’s car. Galvin held onto his car while the suspect drove in reverse and hit another parked car, before driving forward and then allegedly running Galvin over.

Galvin was taken to the hospital where he died a couple of days later.

On Monday morning, just before 10 a.m., officers were in the 14900 block of Ashdale Circle in Woodbridge for a situation separate from the hit-and-run when they found the car.

Maurice Christian lives in the Oasis – Montclair Apartment Complex. He said everyone needs to be safe and to “watch your surroundings.”

“Rest in peace to that man. I’m sorry to hear that,” Christian said. “There’s trouble going on everywhere in the world now, but I guess in the places you would think it’s not going on, it’s starting to happen.”

Breanna Morris said the whole situation was “insane.”

“You wouldn’t think that would happen here,” Morris said. “That’s really bad.”

PWCPD spokesperson, master police officer, Renee Carr, said she doesn’t remember things like this happening.

“This isn’t something that the citizens here are used to seeing. It’s not something that, we want to see continue,” Carr said. “So we’re putting all of our efforts into, making sure we figure out what happened.”
