    Local students learn STEM at Camden Yards

    Students from Dundalk Elementary and Holabird Middle School were among thousands of kids from school districts across Maryland who participated in STEM Education Day at Camden Yards on May 15.

    Before enjoying a game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Toronto Blue Jays, the students were engaged in STEM-related activities, such as learning about:

    Soil types from Nicole Sherry, the Orioles’ head groundskeeper.Estimating storm locations from WBAL-TV 11 Meteorologists Ava Marie and Dalencia Jenkins.Analyzing player statistics from Orioles Vice President and Assistant General Manager Sig Mejdal.The increasing role of technology in baseball from Anthony Sanders, the Orioles’ first-base coach.
