2024 Winner in Milltown Fourth of July Most Patriotic House Contest
MILLTOWN, NJ - The winner of the 16th annual Milltown Fourth of July Most Patriotic House Contest was announced on Thursday. David and Allison Balbo took the 2024 crown. Liz and Justin Fiorenza won the title in 2023. Garret and Elisa Conger won the Most Patriotic House Contest from 2018 to 2022. The winner of the Most Patriotic House Contest is decided by popular vote. Voters stop by the Milltown Fourth of July Committee's tent in Gloria Bradford Borough Park after the annual parade to cast a vote for their favorite borough home entering the contest. Participants fill out a form and submit one to two photos of their home dressed up in its best patriotic theme. Milltown Fourth of July Committee President David Potter announced the winner at the evening festivities in borough park, awarding the Balbo family their first place prize. Tyrus Lazar Dethrones Repeat Pete in Maria Pizza Milltown's Pizza Eating Contest
MILLTOWN, NJ - Repeat Pete didn't become Three-peat Pete in the 2024 pizza eating contest sponsored by Milltown's popular Maria's Pizza on Thursday. Tyrus Lazar defeated the two-time Milltown Fourth of July Pizza Eating Contest winner Pete Lewandowski. Lewandowski won the inaugural contest in 2022 and repeated last summer, earning him the nickname Repeat Pete from Maria's Pizza owners, Rosamaria and Camillo Bonesse. Lazar downed seven full slices in five minutes to win the 2024 title. The teen recently graduated from Milltown's Joyce Kilmer Middle School and will be starting Spotswood High School in September. Lazar and his family will get to enjoy a free Maria's Pizza for a year, following his victory. RAHWAY, NJ — On Thursday, July 4, the Rahway Knights of Columbus Council 1146 held its 10th Annual Ceremony Honoring the Life and Legacy of Abraham Clark, one of 56 signatories of the Declaration of Independence, and one of only five from New Jersey. The event took place at Rahway Cemetery, where Clark is buried along with his wife Sarah and three sons who fought in the American Revolution: Aaron, Andrew, and Thomas.
