Community cleans up in southeast Fresno as part of 'Beautify Fresno'
The community took action over the weekend to help keep our neighborhoods clean.About 60 people signed up to help pick up trash in southeast Fresno as part of a Beautify Fresno event.Volunteers cleaned up the Jackson neighborhood along Mono Avenue on Saturday.The event provides participants with safety vests, gloves, trash bags, snacks, and water.There have been over 400 cleanup events since Mayor Jerry Dyer started Beautify Fresno.The next cleanup day is the Mayor's Citywide Community Cleanup Day on August 3.You can register for the event here.
Farm Incubator Program trains new Valley farmers
A Fresno organization is taking action to train the Valley's future farmers.Dozens of plots, filled with fruits and vegetables, make up the Yo'Ville Community Garden. Four acres of land are located behind the community garden.This space is specifically set aside for new farmers as part of Fresno Metro Ministry's three-year Farm Incubator Program."They get trained on regenerative agriculture. Residents in Coulterville are in shock after a fire tore through their mobile home park, leaving one woman dead."Devastating, not very good," said Lulu Brown.She shared her pain after a fire tore through her small RV home community."I went all the way down to the side of my trailer park, on the driveway, knocked on everyone's door, I saved three lives, they got out. SELMA – As Mid Valley Disposal (MVD) continues its service rollout in the city of Selma, residents are adamant about rolling their trash bins back into the alleyways. More than a dozen Selma residents continued to voice their displeasure at the city’s change in garbage collection contractors during the Selma City Council meeting July 15. Those who spoke insisted MVD return trash pickup to the alleys immediately and cast doubt on the reasons MVD provided for the change to curbside pickup citywide.

FRESNO, Calif. – With NFL Training Camps beginning around the league, Fresno State has 17 former Bulldogs in action. Of the 17 former Bulldogs entering camp, four enter their rookie seasons in Levelle Bailey (Denver Broncos), Jaelen Gill (Los Angeles Chargers), Carlton Johnson (Seattle Seahawks) and Morice Norris Jr. (Detroit Lions).
