DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Saturday families in the Greater Scranton Area made it out to the YMCA in Dunmore for a “Thriving Together” event.

The free community event serves to bring awareness and celebrate the organization’s well-being initiative “Mental health is wealth.”

Dozens made it out to enjoy tons of family fun activities like a giant dart board, plenty of bounce houses and even meeting the Wilkes-barre Scranton Mascot Tux.

What really kept everyone in a calm state of mind was the alpaca petting zoo.

Flowers were blooming at Nay Aug Park

“They’re emotional support animals they definitely fluffy and very friendly like a little cuddle bud, just like your own dog at home just can’t have them at home all the time,” says Haley Schaffer alpaca enthusiast.

The program will continue to host events that engage the community in activities and practices to help support mental and emotional health.
