Odessa Chamblee purchased a scratch-off at a Wallace store and won a $2 million prize.

According to an NC Education Lottery news release, she bought her 100X Cash ticket from the Village Store on N.C. 41 in Wallace.

Vicki Jones-Huffin of the Village Store in Wallace sold Chamblee the winning ticket.

When she heard the news of the winning ticket, Jones-Huffin was thrilled as she knew Chamblee as a regular customer.

It came to her surprise not only that the Village Store sold the winning ticket but the winner is from the same place where Jones-Huffin was raised. Jones-Huffin grew up in Ahoskie, North Carolina.

“I think it’s awesome,” said Jones-Huffin in regards to selling the winning ticket.

The Village Store was happy to hear the news and continues to sell lottery tickets.

“I think that we are lucky — that the store is lucky.”

Chamblee had the option to receive the prize as an annuity of $100,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $1.2 million.

Chamblee chose the total sum which lowered to $858,006 in total after required state and federal tax withholdings.
