DURYEA, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Governor Josh Shapiro (D) made a stop in Luzerne County Friday to highlight a major investment toward business expansion across the Keystone State.

Friday morning, Governor Josh Shapiro joined local lawmakers and business leaders at Production Systems Automation Incorporated, a manufacturing company in Duryea, to discuss the newly signed bipartisan budget and what it means for NEPA.

“The future is bright for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We are gonna create lots and lots of jobs with this half-a-billion dollar investment in sight development,” said Governor Shapiro (D).

“This budget is a win for northeastern Pennsylvania,” voiced Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R).

The bipartisan budget puts 500 million dollars toward creating sites, jobs, and economic development for Pennsylvania allowing businesses like Production Systems Automation Incorporated to expand.

“With these types of investments our goal is to add 100 employees to PSA over the next thirty-six months,” stated Michael Mchale, President/CEO, of Production Systems Automation Inc.

Through the Pennsylvania Strategic Investments to Enhance Sites program, officials say Pennsylvania will become more competitive on a national scale, attract more businesses, and create good-paying jobs.

“We’re saying to the rest of the country that Pennsylvania is open for business, that Pennsylvania has its act together, that Pennsylvania functions with the kind of northeastern Pennsylvania sensibility that I am privileged to witness every time I’m in this region,” stated Governor Shapiro (D).

Other budget investments include 15 million to boost tourism, and 20 million to support small businesses.
