Duxbury teen Sean Delaney, who died in a car crash, remembered as 'an amazing young man'

A Duxbury teenager who died in a crash on a Vermont highway Sunday morning was "an amazing young man," his employer says.

Sean Delaney, 19, worked for ProEnviro in Hanover for about a year, owner Jon Mitton said Tuesday morning.

"He was just a great young kid," Mitton said.

Delaney and Elana Korey, 20, also of Duxbury, died early Sunday morning in a crash on Interstate 89 in Middlesex, Vermont, Vermont State Police said.

Car was engulfed in flames, police say

They were traveling northbound about 5:04 a.m. when the crash occurred, police said. Delaney was driving a 2006 Lexus ES330 and Korey was in the front passenger seat.

"Upon the arrival of first responders, the vehicle was fully engulfed," police wrote. "The driver and front seat passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene."

Police said speed is believed to have contributed to the crash and no other vehicles were involved.

Middlesex is just north of Montpelier and about 30 miles southeast of Burlington.

ProEnviro, a mold remediation and removal company, issued the following statement on Facebook :

"It is with total shock and completely broken hearts that ProEnviro, and the world, lost Sean Delaney to a tragic accident over the weekend. Sean was not only a team member but family here. He was an amazing young man taken way to soon. He was friend, coworker and so much more to all of us at ProEnviro, as well as everyone he met. Sean brought humor, energy and a strong work ethic every day. He never failed to give his all and help the team. There is a void that can never be filled or replaced and we will miss you always. Rest in Peace Sean!

"Our deepest condolences to Bill Delaney, Julie Delaney and Keira, we cannot express our sorrow and the sense of loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

"Our condolences to Korey family who also lost their daughter in this tragic accident. Though we did not know Elana our prayers are with her and your family."
