Brush fire off I-70 between Eagle and Wolcott likely caused by dragging chains, officials say
A brush fire near Interstate 70 caused a single-lane closure between Eagle and Wolcott at mile marker 151 on Sunday morning. Officials are “not 100% sure” of what caused the fire, but believe it was likely caused by safety chains dragging on the road and creating sparks that ignited the brush, according to Tim Sander, battalion chief with the Greater Eagle Fire Protection District.
Core Transit is the Vail Valley’s new transportation authority as EVTA and ECO Transit combine operations
The Eagle Valley Transportation Authority and ECO Transit are combining operations under a new name: Core Transit. Core Transit serves Eagle County along the Interstate 70 and Highway 6 corridors from Dotsero to Vail and includes Minturn, Red Cliff and Leadville routes along U.S. Highway 24. Core Transit will maintain the same routes as previously operated by ECO Transit, including Highway 6, Minturn, Valley, Leadville, and Vail/Beaver Creek Express routes. Buses will now bear Core Transit wrappings.

ECO Transit is in route to become one with the Eagle Valley Transportation Authority
ECO Transit(ion) Since the Eagle Valley Transportation Authority was created with a ballot measure that passed in Vail, Minturn, Red Cliff, Avon, Beaver Creek, Eagle and unincorporated Eagle County in November 2022, the plan has been to take over from Eagle County as the home organization of ECO Transit. While the transition process has been underway for months, the end date for the transfer is Aug. 4.
