There’s an old truism that the mountains have two seasons: winter and construction. That’s particularly true this year, with projects from end to end of the Vail Valley. Here’s a look at the road work going on this summer and fall. Vail Pass. Vail Pass could be...
Eagle River Coalition: Let’s move Beyond Lawn
Did you know that turf grass is considered the largest irrigated crop in the United States? Perhaps even more astoundingly, the amount of water used annually in America to irrigate grass could fill both Lake Powell and Lake Mead. We’re in the midst of a water crisis here in the...
Eagle County voters likely to pick the next District 2 commissioner in Tuesday’s primary election
This year’s primary election for state and local offices doesn’t have a lot of interest, but it could determine the next District 2 member of the Eagle County Board of Commissioners. That district serves roughly the middle part of the Eagle River Valley. Two Democrats — Tom Boyd...

Boards guide organizations and institutions and play a major role in setting their strategic direction. For a board to do this effectively, it must consist of members who come from diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
