There's one word to describe Brody McLemore's high school athletic career at Eagleville.

    Winner.

McLemore is accustomed to winning, being part of three consecutive Class 1A state champion baseball teams, winning a state wrestling title and being part of a football team that reached the playoffs four consecutive seasons during his Eagleville career.

Two of those state titles came during his senior season, including capturing a TSSAA Class A state individual wrestling title in the 150-pound division en route to being named all-area wrestler of the year .

"I didn't just go to compete," said McLemore, who is the Daily News Journal 2023-24 All-Sports Male Athlete of the Year. "I'm there to win. Some people are just happy being there, but I like to win. That's a big part of me."

McLemore reached the TSSAA state individual wrestling tournament five consecutive years, medaling in all five of those years. Winning a state title in his final chance was a sweet reward after back-to-back runner-up finishes.

"How close I was getting every year, it was so awesome to look in my corner and have my older brother (Wyatt, who won two state titles during his time at Eagleville) and dad (Eagleville coach Jay McLemore) in there," Brody said. "Not many people can say they had that in a state championship."

He was a big contributor to the Eagles' dominant baseball run, starting on all three of the team's Class 1A state championship teams (2022-24).

A right fielder, McLemore hit .376 with eight doubles, 31 RBIs, 41 runs and a team-high 22 stolen bases as a senior in leading the Eagles to title No. 3 .

He was also a football standout as a four-year starter, playing a multitude of positions, including running back and cornerback. He spent his senior season playing quarterback for the Eagles, who reached the second round of the Class 1A state playoffs.

McLemore completed eight of nine passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 79 yards on eight carries in a 37-6 first-round playoff win against West Carroll. He finished the season with more than 700 passing yards and 12 TDs and led the team with more than 800 rushing yards.

"It's not just (being) a great athlete," Eagleville football coach Floyd Walker said. "He's a special person. It's hard to find a kid that plays three sports that is loved and respected by all of his teammates. That's the thing that separates Brody from most of your three-sport kids. Whether it's football, wrestling or baseball, he walks into a locker room and every kid appreciates him and respects him. That's the highest praise you can get as an athlete."

After a storied high school career, McLemore is hanging up the cleats and wrestling gear, deciding to focus solely on education as he prepares to attend Motlow State and then MTSU likely to study business administration.

"I'm calling it quits," McLemore said. "I won't say I'm burned out, but I feel like I wouldn't have the same love I have now if I competed on the college level. I've already got a few friends that want to play slow-pitch softball. I'm still going to have the same mentality ... super competitive and not want to lose, even if it's just for fun."
