    SLED: Upstate officer-involved shooting investigation underway

    PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is shedding more light on an fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred in Easley Saturday.

    According to SLED, Easley Police Department reported receiving multiple calls regarding a domestic dispute.

    By 2:45 p.m. there was a heavy police presence at the 100 block of Scott Avenue.

    Officers saw a woman and a child standing outside the home, but the man re-entered the home. SLED reported that the man refused to leave the home and later encountered officers while armed.

    Police then shot the man, who was later identified as Daniel McGoldrick. The 35-year-old died at the scene.

    SLED said that due to the nature of the investigation, no additional details will be disclosed to the public at this time.

    When SLED investigates an officer-involved shooting, the agency interviews all possible witnesses. Additionally, SLED will collect and analyze any evidence.

    Any information from the SLED investigation will be summarized in a case file report sent to prosecutors.

    SLED added that Saturday’s shooting was the 25th officer-involved shooting to occur in the state this year, as well as the third officer-involved shooting for the Easley Police Department in 2024.
