2,500 spots open at Stutelage Innovations summer camp

CLARENCE, NY (WIVB) — As the final school bell rings for districts throughout Western New York, parents who are looking for summer day camp or day care options, may find that many camps throughout the area are already all booked up.

Stutelege Innovations said they have around 2,500 openings of their 10,000 spots throughout the summer, and have morning, afternoon, or you can sign up for both types of sessions, and they say you can register up until the time the session starts.

“One thing that’s really important to us is understanding our parents and community’s need for flexible scheduling, for childcare and also educational enrichment over the summer,” Stutelege Innovations president and CEO Colleen McNamara said. “The way we run our schedule is that it’s really flexible, if there’s an opening you can sign up right until the time the camp starts.”

They have a variety of themes for their programs, including The Floor is Lava, Beach Bash, Fear Factor, Slime Time, American Girl, Minecraft, Barbie, “Stutelege Swifties” and more. They have around 100 programs that mix and match throughout their four locations in East Amherst, Clarence Center, North Tonawanda and a new location in Depew.

“We take themes that we know that kids would love to explore, hide the education within them, and what’s really kind of unique about our camp is that when you’re on our registration site, you can actually see the exact activities that we do each and every day,” McNamara said. “When you come to Stutelage, the people who are going to be teaching your kids are really passionate about what they’re doing. We are keeping the kids moving and grooving, we’re differentiating all of our lessons to our age ranges and we’re overall having a lot of fun.”

These programs can be the building blocks of preventing the “Summer Slide.” Stutelege said that teachers themselves notice that the two months of summer off can impact students’ stamina in the classroom when they return in September.

“Coming to a camp like Stutelage, where you have teachers who are differentiating the lessons, who are keeping those skills active, really keeping your mind moving, that’s going to be so beneficial, to reduce the summer slide and really create more of successful beginning of the school year,” McNamara said. “A child might be here for a day, they might be here for the full summer, but what we can give them is an experience, an opportunity to create community, as a growth in their academics, I mean really, the opportunities are endless.”
