Copiague Appoints New Board of Education Officers
Copiague School District’s Board of Education held its annual reorganizational meeting on July 10. Reelected Board of Education trustees Kenneth Urban and Michael Higgins along with newly elected trustee Beatrice Guido were sworn into office by District Clerk Deborah VanFlorcke. Anthony S. Pepe was elected and sworn in as president of the Board of Education. Brian J. Sales and Mr. Urban were sworn in as first vice president and second vice president, respectively. Lavine Secures Half-Million Dollars for Hicksville Students
A momentous influx of money has been secured for the children of Hicksville thanks to Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-North Shore). Lavine advocated for $500,000 in special funding for Hicksville Public Schools as part of the recently passed 2024-2025 state budget. The money will be used to enhance programs and facilities within the district. This money comes in addition to a 6% increase (totaling nearly $2.5 million) in foundation aid which is part of more than $5 billion slated for public school districts on Long Island in the budget.
