Forbush track star named Female Falcon of the Year

Forbush Senior Skylar Southern has had an incredible year in outdoor track and field.

This month, she won the Conference Championship in the 100m, 200m, and 400m and was named the Foothills 2A Conference Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row.

At Regionals, she came home with a 1st place medal in both the 200m and the 400m and a 2nd place medal in the 100m.

This past Friday, she competed at the NCHSAA State Championships and came home with a 3rd place finish in the 200m, a 4th place finish in the 100m, and another 4th place finish in the 400m.

She had to miss her Senior Awards Day, due to competing at the State Championships, however, she was awarded the prestigious Female Falcon of the Year Award from Forbush High School.

She will be competing in track at Catawba College in the Fall.
