EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ—East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive) has always hosted several bestselling authors for programs and events as special guests. Thanks to a new partnership, the library has increased the number and frequency of online programs accessible from home or vacation.
Through a partnership with the Library Speakers Consortium, East Brunswick Public Library offers more award-winning author talks online than ever. Library users can view the programs online after a brief registration form and watch online on any computer or device.
The author talks cover a wide variety of genres and subjects. Some of the upcoming events are aimed at children and their families.
Newbery Medal-winning author Kate DiCamillo will discuss her beloved Mercy Watson series of kids' books on Tuesday, July 9 at 2:00 pm. Starring a very adventurous pig, the series features a character that DiCamillo has been writing about since 2005. This program is geared toward early readers and those who want to encourage early reading.
The New York Times bestselling middle-school author Max Brailer discusses his The Last Kids on Earth series on Tuesday, July 16 at 2:00 pm. The series focuses on a thirteen-year-old boy and his friends surviving a monster apocalypse. Netflix adapted the series as a cartoon series in 2019.
Previous guests include three-time Emmy Nominee and Full House star John Stamos, bestseller Freida McFadden, Smithsonian Museum curator Paula J. Johnson, NPR’s Nina Totenberg, and best-selling cookbook author Lidia Bastianich.
Caldecott Medal Winner, National Book Award Winner and New York Times bestselling author/illustrator Dan Santat leads a program on Tuesday, July 30 at 2:00 pm on how to adapt your life story into a graphic novel.
