Fireworks to light up 4th of July weekend
A half-dozen fireworks displays are scheduled throughout the Blue Water Area over the next month. St. Clair has their traditional fireworks display along the St. Clair Boardwalk in Palmer Park on Thursday July 4th. Fireworks will cap off day three of the 86th annual Pickerel Festival in Algonac Friday. Lexington’s Fireworks begin at 9pm Friday followed by a parade the Saturday morning at 11am. Port Hope and Port Sanilac will light up the skies over Lake Huron both Saturday night.
New Baltimore City Council sets new budget, millage rates
The New Baltimore City Council has set a new budget with reduced millage rates for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. City officials are anticipating general fund revenues of nearly $10.2 million and expenditures of about $10.8 million. The public is invited to take a tour of the Southwater Municipal Utility Authority Wastewater Treatment Plant in Algonac on July 10. The Southwater Municipal Utility Authority was recently formed with Algonac and Clay and Ira townships after the St. Clair County Department of Public Works advised the municipalities of the need to form an authority to take over the daily responsibility and operations of the wastewater treatment plant in February of 2022. The start date of the new authority was Jan. 1.
