Chevy introduced its fastest, track-focused, 2025 ZR1 model Thursday with a twin-turbocharged, 5.5-liter V-8 engine that makes a stratospheric 1,064 horsepower - the first ‘Vette to hit quadruple digits. The number puts the mid-engine sportscar in elite, million-dollar-plus hypercar territory along with European rocket ships like the 1,063-horsepower Mercedes-AMG One and 1,160-horse Aston Martin Valkyrie. Yet the Corvette will cost a tenth of these exotics at an estimated $150,000 when it goes on sale this fall.

Michigan man, 46, killed in motorcycle crash in Ann Arbor
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - A Michigan man has died after his motorcycle collided with an SUV on Friday in Ann Arbor.Ann Arbor police responded to the area of W. Stadium Boulevard and Winewood Avenue. A preliminary investigation found that the 46-year-old motorcyclist from Milan was traveling southbound on W. Stadium Boulevard when he collided with an SUV that was turning onto Winewood Avenue.The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.The driver of the SUV, a 60-year-old man, was not hurt in the crash.Ann Arbor police believe speed was a factor.The crash is under investigation. Detroit woman, 73, convicted after stealing over $90,000 in Social Security benefits, officials say
(CBS DETROIT) - A 73-year-old Detroit woman was convicted by a jury in connection to stealing more than $90,000 in Social Security funding, officials said. Ernestine Hogue, who is also known as Ernestine Calhoun, was convicted after a two-day trial in Ann Arbor, marking her fourth federal felony conviction for fraud. From 2003-2015, Hogue collected disability benefits under a second name, even though she was working under her actual identity, the complaint said.She used a second Social Security number under the name Ernestine Calhoun to carry out the scheme.Hogue also made several false statements to the Social Security Administration to hide her employment status. Over the course of this scheme, Hogue obtained $91,461.60 in government funding that she wasn't authorized to."This defendant worked (and lied about working) while receiving Social Security disability benefits—benefits meant for people who are unable to work," said U.S. Attorney Ison. "Our office stands ready to aggressively prosecute those who steal from taxpayers and programs designed to help those in need."
