East Dubuque May Allow Golf Carts and UTVs on City Streets
East Dubuque would allow residents to utilize golf carts and utility vehicles within city limits under a newly proposed ordinance. The City Council took no action on the proposed ordinance Monday night, but City Manager Bob Seitz says it plans to potentially approve it at an upcoming meeting. After the City Council meeting, Seitz said city officials have received requests from businesses and individuals to change the city’s current ordinance, which prohibits the operation of golf carts, all-terrain vehicles and utility vehicles on East Dubuque city streets.

Avelo Airlines Will Not Originiate Flights From Dubuque in 4th Quarter of 2024
Avelo Airlines informed the Dubuque Regional Airport on Monday that Dubuque will not be included in Avelo’s flight schedule for the fourth quarter of 2024. Avelo had planned to resume direct flights from Dubuque to Orlando in November but said aircraft availability and increasing costs at Orlando International Airport factored into the decision. Illinois Ends Fiscal Year With Nearly $5B Cash on Hand
Illinois entered a new fiscal year Monday with a bit of a financial cushion as the prior year’s revenues exceeded final projections by about $123 million. The state ended fiscal year 2024 with about $4.7 billion cash on hand, or about 9% of the allocated spending for fiscal year 2025, which began July 1. That included a record high $2.1 billion in the state’s budget stabilization, or “rainy day” fund, which has seen its balance grow steadily over the past five years.
