West Nile Has Been Found in Iowa Mosquitoes
The good news is that at the time of writing, no humans in Iowa have yet tested positive for the West Nile virus. Mosquitos on the other hand have been found containing the virus in central Iowa. According to KCRG, mosquitoes were trapped at a park in West Ames sometime in mid-July. The park where these mosquitoes were found is sprayed or fogged every Wednesday night. Some of these mosquitoes contained the West Nile virus.

Pursuit leads to multiple charges
On 7/21/24, at approximately 12:56 am, an on-duty Fennimore Police Officer spotted a vehicle with heavy front damage weaving outside its lane of traffic. The officer initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed, heading southbound on Lincoln Ave. The Fennimore Police pursued the vehicle, which increased its speed to 96 mph in a 35 mph zone within the City of Fennimore. The pursuit was terminated, and dispatch was alerted.
