Suspects arrested in San Jose armed robbery of person selling items online
Three suspects were arrested in the April armed robbery of a victim in San Jose who had been selling merchandise online, police said.The robbery happened on April 29 on the 800 block of Gateview Drive. San Jose police said the victim was completing an online marketplace sale with an unknown male suspect. During the interaction, two other armed suspects approached him and robbed him of over $4,000 dollars worth of merchandise, police said. The suspects fled in a vehicle.The investigation determined the suspects as two adult males and a 17-year-old male. The adult suspects were identified as San Jose residents Laquin Golden, 22, and Dwight Porsche, 19. Police obtained arrest and search warrants and on July 17, undercover officers arrested Golden and the teenage suspect in San Jose and arrested Porsche in Milpitas. Golden and Porsche were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for robbery while the teenage suspect was booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for robbery. San Jose homicide suspect who fled to El Salvador back in Bay Area after Texas arrest
The suspect in a 2022 fatal shooting in San Jose who fled to El Salvador was returned to the Bay Area after his arrest in Texas in May, police said Friday.The shooting happened on the afternoon of November 18, 2022 on the 600 block of River Oaks Parkway in North San Jose. San Jose police said officers found a man who had been shot and he was treated at the scene before being taken to a hospital where he later died of his injuries.During the investigation, detectives identified 30-year-old Carlos Hernandez Monroy as the suspect. Police said it was also determined that Hernandez Monroy had fled to El Salvador after the shooting.On May 27, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested Hernandez Monroy in McAllen, Texas. He was brought back to San Jose on Monday and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for murder.Police said the motive and circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting were still under investigation. SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State Athletics, in partnership with Playfly Sports, announced a 10-year naming rights agreement with Habbas Law for the new state-of-the-art Spartan Athletics Center, which will now be the Habbas Law Athletics Center at San José State University. The naming rights partnership was recently voted on and unanimously approved by the CSU Board of Trustees and is one of the largest partnerships in SJSU Athletics history, reaching $4 million dollars.

Santa Cruz drowning victims identified as San Jose residents
Two people who drowned after being swept out by a wave in Santa Cruz last week were identified by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office as 30-year-old Pedro David Guadarrama Ceron and 33-year-old Emma Nelly Diazleal Lopez. The San Jose residents were knocked off the rocks near West Cliff Drive and David Way on July 16 at 6:18 p.m. Multiple first responders attempted a rescue, including firefighters, lifeguards, Harbor Patrol, state parks staff, police and medical personnel. Both were found face down in the ocean and declared dead after being pulled into a Harbor Patrol boat by rescue swimmers after life-saving measures failed.The Santa Cruz Fire Department said in a press release about the case that beachgoers should never turn their backs to the ocean. "Certain southerly swells and rising tides can produce 'sneaker waves' that can catch unaware citizens off-guard," the department said.
