LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) — A Lancaster County native was honored by her hometown as she leaves to compete in the upcoming 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.

Casey Kaufhold is ranked as the world’s No. 1 recurve-bow female archer and is preparing to compete in her second Olympic games at just 20 years old.

The East Lampeter Township Board of Supervisors recognized Kaufhold and two of her USA archery teammates and wished them the best of luck during a meet and greet on July 16, as the Olympics are now just nine days away.

“I just think it’s really cool because we’re all pretty young for athletes, like they’re 21 and I’m 20,” Kaufhold said. “And so, I think it’s really cool to show people that like, even at a young age, you can accomplish something like this. So for young kids in the Conestoga Valley School District in the East Lampeter area, it’s awesome. I think that they can look to us and be like, oh my gosh, like these people are, you know, young and doing what they love and hopefully they’ll see that and follow in our footsteps one day.”
