EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (WKBN) — A Columbiana County grand jury has declined to return an indictment against outgoing East Palestine principal Gerald DelBoccio.

The charge has been dismissed according to Columbiana County Court Records.

DelBoccio was accused of taking over $4,300 worth of electronics from the high school on June 5 ahead of his departure as principal.

He was recently hired as superintendent of the Leetonia School District after he was not hired as superintendent of the East Palestine City School District.

DelBoccio’s last day at East Palestine was set to be effective July 31, but he had been ordered not to have contact with East Palestine Schools when the charges were filed.

A representative for the Leetonia School Board said Thursday that DelBoccio will be the district’s superintendent beginning Aug. 1
