Platteville woman injured following accident with a semi
On Thursday just after 12 PM, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a semi versus car crash on Highway 151 at the intersection with Hill Climb Road in Paris Township. After investigation, it was found that 77-year-old Elaine Shanley of Platteville, was driving eastbound on Hill Climb Road and attempted to cross the southbound lanes of Highway 151. Shanley entered Highway 151 directly into the path of a southbound semi tractor and trailer being operated by 59-year-old Henry Chamberlain of Fort Atkinson. Chamberlain braked and swerved, but could not avoid a collision with Shanley’s vehicle. Shanley’s vehicle received severe damage and the semi sustained moderate damage, both were towed. The semi operator was not injured in the crash. Shanley was transported via ambulance to Southwest Health Center in Platteville and was later transferred to a Madison area Hospital for further treatment of possible serious injuries. This crash remains under investigation. Dickeyville EMS, the Dickeyville Fire Department, Jamestown Fire Department, Jamestown First Responders, the Dickevyille Police Department, the Cuba City Police Department, the Grant County Highway Department, Donnie’s Tire and Auto, and Kieler Service Center assisted at the scene.
Hundreds of millions of dollars spent on delivering internet service yet large gaps remain
Since 2019, Wisconsin has allocated more than $345 million in state and federal funds to expand high-speed internet in the state, yet there are still more than 181,000 locations without service, according to a 2024 Governor’s Task Force on Broadband Access report released Thursday. Davenport Iowa Man Arrested in Grant County for Operating while Intoxicated
At around 9:00 pm on 7/21/24, Grant County Dispatch received a 911 call about a three-vehicle crash located south of the City of Boscobel. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene and identified Frank M. Klee, a 55-year-old from Davenport, IA, as the driver who lost control of his vehicle and collided with a guardrail. This caused his vehicle to block traffic, resulting in two other vehicles, a 2023 Honda driven by Jordan Powers and a 2013 Dodge Caravan driven by Grace Ideker, to collide and sustain significant damage while trying to avoid the blockage.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A Postville man is facing multiple charges stemming from a hit and run crash that resulted in injuries earlier this month. More layoffs at freight-related firms: 607 workers cut across 4 states
