Fireworks sales benefit Carlsbad nonprofit
An Alabama-based fireworks business offered support to an Eddy County group dedicated to helping sexual assault and domestic violence survivors. Affirming Heart Victim Services and TNT agreed that the proceeds from two firework stands on Standpipe Road would be donated to fund services for survivors of domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault in Eddy and Lea counties, according to the organization’s website.

ARTESIA — Preparations are currently underway for the 79th Annual Eddy County Fair, set to run July 23-27. Entry forms for participation in Open Class exhibits, Lead Class, 4-H indoor exhibits and the Cake Contest are due by Sunday, June 30. Entry forms for the Junior Livestock Show and Queen Contest are due by Friday, July 12. Forms can be found online at www.eddycountyfair.com.
Eddy County offering aid to Ruidoso residents displaced by South Fork Fire
Several Eddy County and Carlsbad-area organizations extended help to those impacted by the South Fork and Salt fires burning in the Ruidoso area.
